Some days you get that feeling It eats you up inside You’ve been misunderstood The truth is buried in lies Why bother taking time If they won’t change their minds? No need to justify It’s done, so what’s it to yah? Oh oh don’t get emotional You’ve got to ride it out You’ve got a long way to go Relax, you’ve got it under control With every mile that passes You start to understand What once looked like a mountain Can fit inside of your hand It bears a quiet sadness And now and then you sigh You know you took your chances Scars serve to remind Oh oh don’t get emotional You’ve got to ride it out You’ve got a long way to go Relax, you’ve got it under control Now it’s said and done They have our recognition But the rhythm is right Et le vent se leve We’re running ahead And though the picture can’t get any clearer Trouble will come around Try and get you down Oh oh don’t get emotional Oh oh don’t get emotional You’ve got to ride it out You’ve got a long way to go You’ve got to ride it out You’ve got a long way to go Relax, you’ve got it under control

Ain’t it peculiar, well, don’t you think? After all the dreaming it turned out this way It’s all too familiar but it makes no sense As I’m looking around and feeling out of place Walking in circles, keeping with the pace Stumbling lost, cause it all looks the same Head to my knees saying “you’ll be okay” Clinging tight to my dignity Hold on Don’t Go Whoa o o o No turning back now You’ll work it out somehow But you’ll never be the same again No need to get down You’ll make it out somehow But you’ll never be the same again The same again The same again I’m wondering, am I gonna make it? I don’t want to give in Can’t shake it, I’m sinkin’ Lying in bed and feeling sorry Tryina get a grip of reality Won’t cut you a break, you gotta toughen up Hold on tight to that dignity Wake up Just go Whoa o o o No turning back now You’ll work it out somehow But you’ll never be the same again No need to get down You’ll make it out somehow But you’ll never be the same again Ooo Ooo Ooo Ooo Walking my streets and feeling out of place Back in the world that I knew, do I make any sense? Lost like a dream forgotten on the way Hey it’s sort of peculiar, well, don’t you think? Hey it’s sort of peculiar, well, don’t you think? Uh you get used to it Yeah you get used to it Uh you get used to it Yeah you get used to it

Pick up the pieces Give up your reasons No need to please ‘em No no no no no no no Searching, stealing What to believe in In every point of view A lie lie lie lie lie Mmhmm birds of paradise Mmhmm could there be no right? Build up your temple Tear down your arsenal Why live to argue? Why why why why why why why Hoping, but honest This hate will cost us In every shade a hue Of true ooo ooo ooo ooo Mmhmm birds of paradise Mmhmm couldn’t compromise Mmhmm birds of paradise Mmhmm could there be no right? Birds of paradise Birds of paradise Birds of paradise Birds of paradise

Faceless Only just beginning Jaded Shy and unwilling Wasted In the taste of forgetting Stainless But your heart keeps slipping Ooo, ooo I’ve fallen for fakes and fools Seems like you’ve been there too Trying to suss out why It seems like you’re someone I knew No I won’t be around Hit me up when you’re in town Though it can’t be assumed I’ll be seeing you soon So forgotten and untied Left a friend in my eye It was nice to be loved Thinking On places left behind Talking So what’s been on your mind? Searching For meaning in the dust Sharing The gravity that holds us We burn like a manic fire Day passes sultry and dim Waiting on freedom, desire Met with a bittersweet end No I won’t be around Hit me up when you’re in town Though it can’t be assumed I’ll be seeing you soon So forgotten and untied No I won’t be around Hit me up when you’re in town Though it can’t be assumed I’ll be seeing you soon After all those peachy nights Left a friend in my eye It was nice to be loved One look inside The heart decides No… I couldn’t be worthy of missing Smile, my relief Reverse the tide Doubt becoming belief Doubt becoming belief

Echo 04:47
High above in the sky where the leaves blow Down below where the stones sit in cool deep water You can almost hear a voice of something lost, breathe again Echo rings, feeling sinks, willows sway in yonder And on the wind a tune of things That were and left too soon High above in the sky where the darkness grows Down below where shadow paints a copper moon You can see eternity shine for you and in-between Satellite blinks, telephone rings, raven cries so somber And in the night a tune of things That were and left too soon Too soon Too soon Too soon Too soon

Shining Blue 04:18
Take me outside We’re on a hunt for a good life Could be a long time But hopes alive in the skyline Ooo, Ooo, Ooo, Ooo Can you tell me what you’re thinking of Every time you’re on your own route Inception, conception Was wandering on Can you tell me in your own way Let me tell you what I wouldn’t say Did I mention, I had my back turned? Sun shines me blue (I did assume) Hey are you listening? (I’m trying to understand) What you on about? Just hear me out Just hear me out Ooo, Ooo, Ooo, Ooo Take me outside We’re on a hunt for a good life Could be a long time But hopes alive in the skyline Looking for a place to hide away Work another year to lose that face Deception, protection And security Kinda hard to get a read on you Even the right things aren’t what I should do Feeling tension seeing my walls burned I’m swinging blue (What can I do?) I’m trying to understand (Hey are you listening?) But I’m bleeding doubt Just hear me out Just hear me out And It’s alright If we ain’t on the same side See through both eyes And you know what it feels like Take me outside We’re on a hunt for a good life Could be a long time But hopes alive in the skyline Ooo, Ooo, Ooo, Ooo

We’re in the middle Of a strange kind of warped and surreal reality And I can’t seem to care Spending money and drooling while I drag my feet Little tequila To get the morning start off right I’m feeling light Bump into Tia She’s got a look like she ain’t feeling so right It’s a wonderful life Such a tragic lie A world in disguise And I’m just a simple guy Another sunset A little whiskey, Crack-a-cola, struttin’ in through the door Playing my position Cut from high modern style Bought out and flawlessly sold Pour me a double (I smile and oblige) Grab a glass and pour (She looks at me surprised) For a moment my eyes betrayed a little more It’s a wonderful life Such a tragic lie A world in disguise And I’m just a simple guy I boogie woogie Dancing till the beat stops I boogie woogie Showin off what I bought I boogie woogie Posing on a backdrop I boogie woogie Yeah I hit the jackpot! What’s going on? I don’t get it Don’t I deserve it all? What’s going on? Give it to me I don’t care what it costs I boogie woogie I boogie woogie I boogie woogie I boogie woogie

Easy Way Out 04:11
Welcome to your decisions Constant revolving door Installing with your permission A conscious act ignored What in hopes are you seeking? The truth you already know? A telescope for observing The vision’s eternal glow? All this time growing up and bending Getting by at the corner store The sacrifice on behalf of pretending Was so much more than we thought before You can try to commit Or take the easy way out Hold your tongue and submit And take the easy way out Give up all the excess Or take the easy way out Live a life you regret Cause that’s the easy way out Stuck up on your conditions Supported by the crowd Tangled with politicians A corporate merry go round Hung up all your convictions Couldn’t handle the weight But you can’t help your addictions We were born in these chains All this time growing up and bending Buying dreams at the mega store The sacrifice on behalf of pretending Was so much more than we thought before You can break at the whip And take the easy way out Brace yourself for the hit Or take the easy way out Make a stand for something Or take the easy way out You can give up and quit Cause that’s the easy way out Take more than your share Call it unfair Does it even matter You live for the now Complain about how The future just brings you down They’ve figured you out Let’s not beat about The reason you’re static You’re not unaware Defenceless or bare So what will you do? Take the easy way out (take the easy way out) Take the easy way out (take the easy way out) Take the easy way

Patience 04:41
Patience I say Patience will grow With a little hard work I know All in good time Try in good faith Then it’ll start to show How many nights How many sighs Go with that ebb and flow? Heart with my faith All done for love Learning to take it slow Bitter my mind Bitter sometimes Hoping to be someone Saving some face Mask tied on tight Smiling fake like scum Choice in my hand Choking on pride So easily undone Save me some grace I do it for love Knowing our day will come Come along, come along Someday soon we’ll be gone Let the light keep me warm From the shadows that mean to harm Come along, come along Let my light keep us warm Feel the rush in my lungs As we are standing strong Sweetness my end Sweetness you shine Brave as you make the climb Timid at first In wonder at all Victim to hope’s design Breathtaking ease Feeling so high Unable to define Arms open wide Fall from the sky Taking it as a sign

Swimming in a sea of numbers Pushing me backwards and forwards No I know I don't know the answers No I know I don't got all the answers Baby got a backhand from the ocean Still shocked from the force of the motion What were you thinking? Who you been talking to? Blue skin, bloody toes Shivering down to the bone Rising up, shrouded in evening light And you wanna stop drowning But you can’t stop diving in Swimming in a sea of numbers Pushing me backwards and forwards No I know I don't know the answers No I know I don't got all the answers Jot down, saved by the bell curve XYs getting their life served up on a porcelain plate Are they living? Or waiting to break? Strung out, open the door A thousand letters come crashing to the floor Wanting to commiserate - that's alright but not today What felt good from the start can just tear someone apart Swimming in a sea of numbers Pushing me backwards and forwards No I know I don't know the answers No I know I don't got all the answers We're 70 miles from home Destinations always in change You can argue how much, or how long But if you ask why, the answers the same Swimming in a sea of numbers Pushing me backwards and forwards No I know I don't know the answers No I know I don't got all the answers Swimming in a sea (in a sea of numb) Pushing me backwards (and backwards and forth) Swimming in a sea (in a sea of numb) Pushing me backwards (and backwards and forth) No I know I don't know the answers Now I know nobodys got the answers Now I know I'll never have the answers No I know I don't got all the answers

about

“Periscope” reflects the point of view of a keen yet dejected soul - an outcast introvert looking through a window onto a modern world, fighting the urge to shut the curtain, and reaching out with the hope of being understood.

Overall the album is upbeat and peppy. It has pretty, catchy melodies that hook the listener into the lyrics that are insightful and poignant. We hope the music conveys the feeling that a positive bedrock can keep you grooving even through life’s sad moments.

We kept “Periscope” simple in terms of recording and production style. There are no overdubs or harmonies that we can’t do live. We wanted to keep it this way because, although we sometimes like music with a more produced feel, some media today really slips away from what is possible for a band or artist to play live. We wanted to show our real selves - no autotune and minimal vocal effects. We didn’t want to bury or over distort the lyrics. The messages conveyed in the songs are important to us. We want to embrace and share this by letting them stand out.

We want people to take a positive outlook away from our music - an outlook that struggle is not inherently bad. We try not to subscribe to the idea that life happens to us but rather, that we can shape our reality based on how we react to uncertainty. Through accepting and embracing struggle as a part of life, we can use it as a tool for growth. Being honest with yourself through introspection can result in personal growth.

More than anything, music is joyful expression of the self and a way in which we attempt to communicate and share that self. Empathy begets a sense of community - a unification of beings through the recognition and validation of shared emotions. We’re here to share our real selves in the hope that more people realize it’s okay to do the same.

about

Jitensha Montreal, Québec

Jitensha is the garage rock love child of Erin Rose Hubbard and David Martinez. The sound is a silvery union of honey sweet proto-punkiness and modern indie that is harmonically reminiscent of 1950s rock & roll. With vocals, electric guitar and drums, stealing a niche somewhere between the White Stripes and the Civil Wars, Jitensha nestles catchy, poignant melodies into hard hitting rock grooves. ... more
